World HistoryAloha! Thank you for visiting our World History page! I hope that the information provided helps you understand the work that we are doing in our courses. The goal of my World History course is not only to share knowledge of the economic, social, political and cultural aspects of human populations from prehistory, through ancient times, the middle ages and the modern era, but to improve student ability to comprehend, analyze and synthesize information provided to them in their world. Skills that will help them in their college careers are engrained in the projects that they will complete in my class. Most importantly, it is my hope to inspire students to become life long learners. I want students to understand just how lucky we are to have so much knowledge and information at our fingertips in the time that we are living. I hope to motivate them to make goals, work hard to accomplish them, and then, to make more. If we can work together to help our children see their value within the local community, they will impact our world community in a positive way. Knowledge is power. In my class, I am teaching students that learning about trends in world history may help prevent future mistakes within our country, thus affecting the world course in the next century or millenium. Sometimes we feel really small in this big world, but, seven billion positive actions by seven billion individuals, makes or a huge positive change in our future. Let's make history.
We are currently working on our final, and this time, independent, World History Project. Please click on one of the FINAL WORLD HISTORY PROJECT SPRING 2012 forms below to review important due dates for a successful project. Students will not have a computer or library day in class, so, the responsibility to do research this time, will solely be on the student. Our media center is open Monday - Friday (excluding Wednesdays) from 1:40 - 2:30 pm. If students begin research now, they will have plenty of time to complete finding and analyzing only five sources of information. Students have been completing this type of project for all three previous quarters, so, they should be familiar with their responsibilities. If you have any questions, please give me a call or email me. My contact information is located on the CONTACT ME tab above. Most students in my classes express the ambition to attend college. Along with researching people who are relevant to important events in World History, this project is helping introduce them to research skills that are crucial in college. They don't LOVE the idea, but, some day...they just might thank me :). I am always here to help on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 3 pm, so don't hesitate to come visit, or encourage your dependent to do so. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful week! Final Projects for Spring Modern Era Culture are due JUNE 1, 2012. +15 extra credit - May 29, 2012 +10 extra credit - May 30, 2012 +5 extra credit - May 31, 2012
